General
Description:
The
heartwood of Spruce is dull purplish-brown, lighter and more brittle than
that of the redwood below. It is used for general building purposes; Spruce
is versatile timber, easy to machine, plane, turn, glue and bore. It dries
easily and has less tendency to split when nailed and holds paint and

General
Description:
The
sapwood is creamy white and may be streaked with the heartwood varying
from pale yellowish brown to olive green. The green colour in the heartwood
will tend to darken on exposure to light and turn brown. The wood has
a medium to fine texture and is sligtly grained with knots as a part of
its inherent texture. Pinewood is versatile timber, easy to machine, plane,
turn, glue and bore. It dries easily and has less tendency to split when
nailed and holds paint and stain exceptionally well.
