Teak
IROKO:

Size:
Thick:
1" & up x 6" & wider, Length:7' & up
General
Description:
The
African teak are an important group which are botanically split into more
than one group. The sapwood of African teak is light brown tinged with
dark brown while the heartwood is pale to reddish brown.
Mahogany (Sapelli,
Tiama, Sipo, Khaya):

Size:
Thick:
1" & up x 6" & wider, Length:7' & up
General
Description:
The
sapwood of Mahogany tends to be light pink to light reddish brown while
the heartwood is reddish brown often with darker streaks. The wood is
usually straight grained with an attractive lustruous grain on polish
finish. Mahogany usually has a uniform texture and is moderately hard.
Very practical with carpentry applications. Excellent results are obtained
on machining, nailing, screwing, gluing and finishing.
Rose Wood:

Size:
Thick:
1" & up x 6" & wider, Length:7' & up
General
Description:
Rosewood
is almost pinkish steamed colour when freshly cut but quickly changes
to its natural expected colour on exposure to air to light brown with
a reddish tinge. Heartwood is formed only in trees of advanced age and
there is no visible boundary between sap and heartwood. Rosewood is fairly
straight grained with a uniform texture. Rosewood is excellent for turning
and polishing. It nails, screws and glues well, and can be sanded, painted
or stained to a good finish. It dries easily with little dimensional stability
change.
Ebony:

Size:
Thick:
1" & up x 6" & wider, Length:7' & up
General
Description:
The
sapwood of Ebony is creamy brown, while the heartwood is light brown to
dark chocolate brown, occasionally with blackisk streaks. Ebony can be
supplied steamed to darken sapwood or left unsteamed. Ebony is generally
straight grained, but sometimes with a curly or irregular grain. This
wood is tough, hard and of medium density with moderate bending and crushing
strengths in addtion to low stiffness. It has a rather good steam bending
classification.
Anegre:

Size:
Thick:
1" & up x 6" & wider, Length:7' & up
General
Description:
The
Anegre sapwood is white, blending to light brown heartwood. The contrast
between the sap and heartwood is small. The Anegre wood has a fine uniform
texture and is slightly grained. Anegre does not split when nailed; it
machines easily and bores and sands easily. It takes paint and stains
well to produce a good finish. It has a low to moderate shrinkage and
good dimentional stability. Anegre is extremely resistant to preservative
treatment.
Wenge:

Size:
Thick:
1" & up x 6" & wider, Length:7' & up
General
Description:
The
sapwood of Wenge is creamy brown, while the heartwood is light brown to
dark chocolate brown, occasionally with blackisk streaks. Wenge can be
supplied steamed to darken sapwood or left unsteamed. Wenge is generally
straight grained, but sometimes with a curly or irregular grain. This
wood is tough and hard and is of medium density with moderate bending
and crushing strengths and low stiffness. It has a rather good steam bending
classification.
